I’ll admit, at first, I was overwhelmed with the overuse of metaphors that constantly showed itself in every other sentence. But once I got used to the writing style, I really got into the book. I found myself wanting to pick it up to continue reading any chance I got. This book transports back and forth in time from the present week-long cottage to the past experiences of “happy places” Harriet has experienced with her friends. This story was frustrating but in a good way!

A reading slump is when you don’t feel like reading. It can occur when you have read a great book, a mediocre read, too much of the same genre, or you just don’t feel like reading at that moment in time.

The world-building, writing, and characters are so perfect that I ended up in the biggest reading slump of my life. I had no idea what to do with myself because all I could think about were these lives that I had temporarily lived for the two weeks straight I had read these books. Seriously, I hadn’t picked up anything else or read anything else in a long time. But now I am back and better than eva! And I finished this series, giving me closure.
